The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) has created the Preservation Fund to help sustain the Center’s wide variety of free services and web resources. Your tax-deductible contribution will help NEDCC continue to offer the free preservation expertise that you depend on.

The Northeast Document Conservation Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a volunteer Board of Directors.

Did you know?

NEDCC provides a variety of free services to help you preserve your collections, including:

  • 24-Hour Disaster Assistance Hotline — You can call, day or night, to receive telephone advice on how to recover materials damaged in a disaster, large or small.
  • Preservation Guidance — Questions about any aspect of the preservation of paper-based materials will be answered by email or by telephone by an NEDCC preservation professional.
  • Conservator-of-the-Day Program — You may bring paper-based objects to the Center’s headquarters in Andover, MA, and a conservator will advise you on conservation treatment options and priorities. Make an appointment anytime Monday–Friday between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

NEDCC also provides many free Web resources to the public, such as:

  • dPlan™: The Online Disaster-Planning Tool, an easy-to-use template that allows museums, libraries, archives, and other cultural institutions to complete a customized disaster plan that includes disaster response procedures and sources of emergency supplies and services.
  • Preservation 101, a comprehensive online introductory preservation course that has been used by hundreds of institutions and individuals worldwide.
  • The Preservation Education Curriculum, a downloadable, ready-to-use curriculum for instructors at graduate schools of librarianship and archives.
  • NEDCC’s Preservation Leaflets, printable leaflets with information on over 50 preservation topics and links to additional resources.
  • Resources for Preserving Private and Family Collections, helpful hints for care of family documents, photographs, and other memorabilia
