Jessica Branco Colati
Named Director of Preservation Services
Jessica Branco Colati has been named Director of Preservation Services at the Northeast Document Conservation Center. Jessica will be responsible for managing NEDCC's education and outreach activities and working with the Center's Executive Director to lead future Preservation Services activities and initiatives.
Jessica has more than ten years of experience processing and preserving both physical and digital collections for archives, libraries, cultural heritage institutions, and consortial library organizations. Her professional interests include ensuring the durability of digital objects as well as the care and preservation of physical collections.
She most recently served as the Director of Digital Repository Services at the Colorado Alliance of Research Libraries in Denver, Colorado. She also worked with both physical and digital library collections and repositories at Tufts Digital Collections and Archives, the National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution, and the Washington Research Library Consortium.
Jessica has taught continuing education courses and webinars, as well as authored instructional materials focused on developing digital collections, metadata, and digital repositories, and preservation for both national and regional organizations, and has served on the faculty for NEDCC’s Digital Directions since 2009. She is the co-author of a recurring column on preservation in the Journal of Electronic Resources Librarianship. Jessica holds a BA in History from Tufts University and an MLIS from Simmons College, and is a member of the Society of American Archivists and the American Library Association.
