introduction

NEDCC provides the highest quality conservation treatment and imaging services. Historic, rare, or fragile objects can be imaged and conserved at the same facility without undergoing the physical stress of moving from one location to another.
Collaboration between the Center’s Paper Conservation and Book Conservation laboratories makes possible the treatment of complex artifacts that require the combined expertise of paper conservators, photograph conservators, and book conservators and assures high standards of practice.
The Imaging Services department specializes in digitization of photographs, maps, documents, works of art on paper, and other visual materials. Staff members are experienced in careful handling of fragile and oversize materials.
NEDCC’s Preservation Services department provides assessments and consultations, a 24-hour Disaster Assistance Hotline, and a free reference service for inquiries about the preservation of paper-based materials. The Center presents workshops, webinars, and conferences on a variety of preservation topics.
