  • Structure of the typical cloth case binding

Explore the difference between the case and other structures, such as split-board and laced-in structures, hollow-tube versus tight-back bindings, and historic nonadhesive structures. Explain how to identify the different structures. Include in the discussion differences in durability, handling and exhibition needs, and level of expertise required to assess conservation needs of more complex materials for the different structures.
