ATTN: NEDCC Clients

NEDCC Reopens May 19, 2020

As a client of NEDCC who either has an approved project in-progress or a pending proposal for services, we want to update you on the status of our operations.

On May 18, Governor Baker released his phased reopening plan, which allows businesses that have the lowest level of risk to spreading COVID-19 among the public to reopen during Phase One. NEDCC meets the OSHA standards for a “Low Risk” operation and, because we are among the Phase One business sectors and have developed and implemented policies and procedures to fully comply with the Commonwealth’s “Mandatory Safety Standards for Workplaces,” we are once again open for business.

Safety

However, while our staff may return to work, the Commonwealth’s safety standards require us to minimize face-to-face contact with clients. Consequently, we encourage clients to ship their materials to us and allow us to consult with them about their conservation treatment and digitization needs by phone, video chat, or email. For local clients who prefer to drop off their materials, we have developed a protocol for curbside service, which you can access here.

As we safely ramp up operations, we have modified our workflows to allow for proper social distancing and related safety protocols, which will necessarily slow down the pace of work. If your project has a firm deadline based on a grant, fiscal year, exhibition, or other consideration, please let us know right away so that we may adjust our schedule accordingly.

NEDCC is Here for You

Thank you to those of you have expressed concern for our safety. Please rest assured that NEDCC will continue to closely follow all of the recommendations (current and evolving) of federal, state, and local health authorities in doing our part to protect the health and well-being of our staff, clients, and the general public. And, we will continue to be offering those services that can be provided electronically (e.g., 24/7 emergency hotline, webinars, etc.).

Not only is the physical health of our staff important, but the economic health of NEDCC is as well. Although we are returning to a good pipeline of approved work stored in our secure vault, we encourage clients to send us materials for approved proposals so that we can keep operating at full capacity. And, if you’d like to further support NEDCC, since we earn 90% of our revenues, the best way is to send us work. The harder we are able to work, the healthier we will be!
