About Preservation Training at NEDCC

NEDCC offers a wide range of educational programs to help cultural institutions and individuals preserve their valuable collections. These are made possible in part by grants from the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Scheduled and On-Demand Training

NEDCC offers webinars (ranging from 1 hour to multi-session courses), workshops, and on-demand webinar recordings. See our Current Training Programs for more information and to register.

Visit the NEDCC YouTube Channel for free preservation training webinar recordings.

Customized training

Your institution can coordinate an NEDCC workshop, webinar, series, or other program for your region, anywhere in the country. NEDCC will provide the faculty, tailor the program to meet the interests and training needs of your institution and region, and help you promote the event to your audience. Contact us at [email protected] to discuss options for customization.

TYPES OF TRAINING PROGRAMS

Workshops

NEDCC presents half-day, full-day, and multi-day in-person workshops at your institution or a nearby venue. Onsite workshops can include interactive, hands-on activities or topics that require in-depth exploration and discussion of specific content areas.

Webinars

Our 1–2 hour webinars address preservation topics ranging from collections care to digitization to grants for AV preservation.

Web Courses

We also offer multi-session courses to help fill in the gaps in your preservation training. Our web courses include Fundamentals of AV Preservation, Fundamentals of Photograph Preservation, and Preservation 101: Preservation Basics for Paper and Media Collections.

Self-guided instruction

Explore our online textbooks for free, self-guided, online learning: Preservation 101 and Fundamentals of Audiovisual Preservation

Conferences

NEDCC has presented conferences on creating and managing digital collections in locations around the country and internationally since 1995. Digital Directions: Fundamentals of Creating and Managing Digital Collections is our current 3 half-day online conference on best practices and practical strategies for the creation, curation, and use of digital collections. It is presented annually.
