Scrapbooks are unique artifacts that often represent personal moments alongside local and national history. The variety of records and materials included along with the myriad methods of fastening items into a scrapbook pose significant preservation challenges. This webinar will cover the issues to consider in providing the best level of care for scrapbook collections, and will introduce the structure of scrapbooks, types of materials commonly found in them, methods of attachment, and the implications for preservation and conservation. Low-cost, in-house preservation approaches are discussed.
